The very last thing I do before I fall asleep at night is throw the book on the floor and hope it lands on the page I've just finished. By bedtime, I am so exhausted that it is all I can do to hold the book, much less take care of a bookmark. Frequently I lose my place and even more frequently I imagine that I must have read that page because it's all bent; that must have been where I threw it down.
So when I came across this great idea, I wanted it to share it with other late-nite bibliophiles.
See that crazy kid up there with his head sticking out of my book? Hey! That's my son. I have immortalized him in magnetic bookmark form and you friends, can immortalize your loved ones the same way. The magnetic feature is great because if I need to read X number of pages before next Tuesday, the magnetic bookmark holds the pages together. Now let's immortalize:
I'll show you how.
****First of all, we'll need to gather our supplies****
a) a favorite photo of a whole person (I mean full body shot)
b) an inket printer and some photo paper
c) scissors because we get to cut!!
d) strong, circular flat magnets from any craft store
e) transparent tape
f) some sort of glue or glue stick
Okay, got everything?
Let's move on.
Step 1) Choose a picture of someone from head to toe, a full body picture. I was going to pick one of me in a red hot bikini but beings that I don't have one nor would I wear one, I didn't choose that.
Step 2) Find a piece of blank or decorative hard paper for the backing. You can also make a mirror image in an editing program by copying, flipping and printing it. I chose the back of an old card with a simple design on the back. I didn't want to go to all the trouble.
Step 3) Place the backing underneath your photo and cut around the photo. If you chose the mirror image bookmark ( oh my aren't we fancy) cut out each photo and respective backings separately.
Step 4) Now flip both the photo and the backing(s) over so they are photo or decorative side down. Place a magnet at the bottom (the feet, the feet) of each figure and tape it down. Watch that polarity folks!
Remember; always attract, never repel.
Step 5) Get your glue and start making a mess. You only want to apply glue to the top 1/3 of each cutout. Place each side of the bookmark together ( picture to blank) , back to back and allow the glue to dry.
Step 6) When completely dry, test it out! Place one side of the bookmark on each side of the page you want to mark!
Is that not darlin? I think they would look cute in gift baskets or include one of a special photo of someone special with a book.
And there you have it ! How to make yourself magnetic.

That is so cute!! I'm going to have to try that as soon as possible! My How-To also has to do with transforming photos of your kids. Here's the link: http://simplethings1.wordpress.com/2008/07/10/how-to-create-a-silhouette-t-shirt-from-your-childs-photo/
How cute! Will have to try it if I can scrounge together the supplies. I'm constantly in need of bookmarks for my dozen half-read books.
