Downtime Sleepy Hat Giveaway

At about the age of four months old, my son started having difficulty napping during the day. He liked to be held and rocked to sleep in a dark room, comforted by the loving arms of his mother and the quiet retreat of the darkness.
I've often wondered just how babies see the world; being used to that quiet darkness inside mommy's tummy and then very quickly, a whole new world being introduced. With an explosion of sounds and visual stimulations, it's no wonder they have difficulty relaxing. Sometimes it was only from apparent sheer exhaustion that Emil could fall asleep. He was obviously so mesmerized by all those things around him that he didn't want to miss a thing!

It wasn't always possible to sit in that dark room and rock him to sleep ; nor would it have been wise to do so. Baby needed to learn to relax and I needed to always make sure that this was as easy as possible for him. We all know that the most restful sleep we get is in the dark. We all know that external noises like cars, people chatting and everyday house sounds can keep us awake. Why would it be different for baby? We even use sleep masks and when Emil got older, he used to pull the blanket over his eyes to help him fall asleep.

Downtime Sleepy Hat is designed first and foremost with baby's safety as the top priority of course. Made from breathable 100% organic pima cotton and having an adjustable top knot ensure that the hat won't fall down and over baby's mouth. Just hold the hat up to your nose and see how breathable the fabric is. I like how the nose is contoured to fit comfortably. Of course, with safety as the number one concern, you'll want to make sure that baby's hands are free and he's able to pull the hat off if bothered. For Emil, that came right about the same age of 4 months; booties and hats were wriggled off by his tiny little arms effortlessly it seemed.

Speaking of bothering, how many times have well intentioned family, friends and strangers attempted to pinch, cuddle or prod baby while he tries to rest? On more than one occasion, I have had to shoo away people and explain that "He's trying to get some rest right now". While the Downtime Sleepy Hat acts as a calming visual deterrent for baby, it acts as a visual signal to those well intentioned baby pinchers that baby is sleeping. With the hat pulled over baby's eyes and the little sleeping eye las design showing, you won't be subjected to alarmists telling you baby's hat is over his eyes nor will baby's sleep be interrupted.

Hi, I have always thought these hats are so innovative. I can see using it in our van quite a bit! Helps keep the sun out of the eyes of our little one! The park would be another great place to use the hat. Please enter me in your delightful drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

We'd probably use it a lot in the car and on the playground (should she fall asleep in her stroller)

Hands down in the car! It seems like my kids would always fall asleep in the car, but then when we would turn and the sun would change, they would wake up. Thanks for the chance!

My son could really use this in the car and also when he goes to grandma's. Her house is filled with mini blinds and the little bits of light that peek through always fascinates him (and distracts him from sleep). Thanks!

Genius! I travel with my kids (twins) all the time and this would be perfect for the airplane. When you're in the galley trying to rock the child to sleep, it would keep other passengers from trying to play with them instead.

Id use this at church--GENIUS and hilariously cute too. Thanks!

We could use this at church and in the car. Clever idea - I just wonder if my daughter would leave it over her eyes long enough to fall asleep.

I think we'd get the most use out of it in church---our children often fall asleep on the way there, and the Sleepy Hat might help them STAY that way. Thanks for the giveaway!

These hats are wonderful. My niece has always covered her eyes with her hands or a blanket while going to sleep.

We'd get the most use out of it at church. Which is always during her nap times.

I think we'd use it most in the car - it gets really bright here - and this is such a cute hat! Thanks! afdr3d@umkc.edu

This is so cute! Hubby's daughter lives in Guatemala and she and her hubby work in the family open air market selling veggies and flowers. Baby will most likely be outdoors alot after it is born at the end of this month, and this would be so cool sending one to her so baby can get some much needed sleep while mom and dad work!

This would be great for car rides to keep baby calm. What an invention! I am definitely impressed as I have never seen anything like this! I have to ask a couple of friends if they have seen this creation!

This is such a good idea. My son has trouble getting to sleep because he always fights it. I think if he had one the best place to use it would be in daycare because he gets very distracted and sometimes misses his nap because of the distractions.

Hysterical. My son could use it after eating (makes him sleepy)

I desperately would love to win one of these. My son is the lightest sleeper I've ever known, and will pretty much just sleep in his crib in the dark. This would be great for car rides and trips to grandma's, where he doesn't sleep because he's too interested in all the new things!

What a cool giveaway, I haven't seen these before. So my little light sleeper could use this, especially during day-time naps. We don't have curtains in his room and it just doesn't get dark enough in there.

Leigh said...

We would need this the most on airplanes probably. I can't stand how people complain about having to sit by/anywhere in the same plane with an infant, but THEN they INSIST on waking the baby up to say "Oh she's doing so well!" Yeah, thanks lol You need all the help you can get to get a baby to sleep through take-off and landing. I'm leighbra atgmail

Of course it would be great for traveling in car, plain, or train. But, my little one is not sleeping at all right now so I could use it anytime of day!

Best place to wear?
In the car, of course. Shifting sun is always a problem, and this cute cap would help shield against glare nicely.
